Retail core

The Retail Core will be the new heart for Canvey. It will be a vibrant shopping destination and hub for the community. The proposals are as follows:

Create a shopping circuit beginning at Furtherwick Road

Realign Foksville Road to provide a larger area for development

Open up and extend the Knightswick Centre

Add new shops, a bigger supermarket and public spaces

Provide a range of uses with cafes and restaurants, residential, community and small businesses

Retain and enhance the buildings on Furtherwick Road

Creative and adventurous design in new buildings

Potentially allow the temporary pedestrianisation of Furtherwick Road to accommodate markets

Create links from the shopping area to the new school
